O bom compositor sempre está buscando um intérprete que traga uma nova e ousada forma ao conteúdo de sua obra em constante mutação. Da mesma forma, o bom intérprete, curioso e ousado, busca dar nova forma ao conteúdo da obra de um bom compositor.
Neste projeto de show musical a cantora portuguesa Maria João ousa dar nova forma ao conteúdo da obra do compositor brasileiro Guinga. Chegou o momento de ambos permitirem-se ir mar afora, como diziam os antigos, aventurar-se, descobrir novos rumos musicais enquanto estão se apresentando juntos.

 

Maria João Monteiro Grancha nasceu em Lisboa, no dia 27 de Junho de 1956, filha de pai português e mãe moçambicana. Da infância guarda imagens dispersas e coloridas de uma África já não tão distante assim. Das férias passadas por lá, do calor, das praias com redes por causa dos tubarões...A entrada na adolescência revelou o seu espírito rebelde e inquieto.
A menina gordinha, de óculos > e < Gungunhana > pelos colegas louros e magros do Colégio Inglês, St. Julian School, e aprendeu a defender-se como podia, com um murro aqui e um pontapé alí. À parte do duo que forma com Mário Laginha, Maria João é frequentemente convidada a colaborar com outros músicos de grande pretígio.

Carlos Althier de Souza Escobar, Guinga, nasceu em 10 de junho de 1950, no Rio de Janeiro. Aprendeu violão intuitivamente aos 13 anos de idade. Mais tarde faria cursos de música, inclusive 5 anos de violão clássico com o professor Jodacil Damasceno. Começou a compor aos 16 anos, classificando a sua primeira canção aos 17 anos no Festival Internacional da Canção. Trabalhou profissionalmente, acompanhando artistas como Clara Nunes, Beth Carvalho, Alíde Costa, Cartola, João Nogueira, entre outros.
Formou-se em Odontologia em 1975. Sempre compondo, teve várias de suas músicas gravadas por nomes importantes: Elis Regina, Michel Legrand, Sérgio Mendes, Leila Pinheiro, Chico Buarque, Clara Nunes, Ivan Lins e outros. Hoje dedica-se inteiramente a sua carreira musical, passando boa parte do ano fazendo shows e gravações em diversos países.

The good composer is always looking for an interpreter to bring a bold new way to the content of his work, wich of course is constantly changing. In turn, the good interpreter, curious and daring, searchs to reshape the content of the work of a good composer.
In this project - the musical show "Throughout By The Sea" - the Portuguese singer Maria João dares to innovate on the work of Brazilian composer and musician Guinga who will join her on stage playing guitar. Together, they will go "out to sea", as the ancients said, venturing and discovering new musical directions and routes, guided by a rich repertoire that includes songs recorded by big names of Brazilian music, as Leila Pinheiro, Monica Salmaso, Chico Buarque, among others.

BIOGRAPHIES

Maria João

Maria João Monteiro Grancha was born in Lisbon on June 27, 1956, daughter of a Portuguese father and Mozambican mother. From childhood, she holds colorful images of an Africa no longer so far away. Os holidays there, the heat, the beaches with networks because os sharks...The beginning of adolescence revealed his rebellious and rastless spirit.
The chubby girl, glasses and hair crimped did not like to be humiliated by blond and skinny fellows at the English College, St. Julian School, for wich she was called "glasses box" and "Gungunhana" (last emperor of Gaza Empire current Mozamnique), and then soon learned to defend himself as she could, with a blow here and a kick there. Today, world renowned and admired for her unique talent and style, Maria João, part of the duo with the Portuguese pianist and composer Mário Laginha, is often invited to collaborate with other musicians of equal prestige inside and outside of her country. In love with Brazilian music, she recorded one of the most intense versions of "Beatriz", a classic Chico Buarque's song.

Guinga

Carlos de Souza Lemos Escobar Althier, Guinga, was born on June 10, 1950, in Rio de Janeiro. He learned guitar intuitively at 13 years old. Later will take music courses, including five years of classical guitar with teacher Jodacil Damasceno. He began composing at age 16, already classifying his first song at 17, at the International Song Festival. Later, worked with artists as Clara Nunes, Beth Carvalho, Alaíde Costa, Cartola, and João Nogueira, among others.
Guinga graduated in Dentistry in 1975, however, never stopped composing, taking several of his songs recorded by major names such as Elis Regina, Michel Legrand, Sergio Mendes, Leila Pinheiro, Chico Buarque, Clara Nunes, Ivan Lins and others. Today he dedicates his time entirely to his musical career, touring and recording in several countries.
